Egypt: Low Tariffs Paired with Rigorous Standard Scrutiny
Egypt offers favorable import tariffs for PVC resin, set at 2% since 2020, falling under the regular tariff bracket. Note that importers from non-Arab countries may not qualify for certain regional preferences and pay the full duty. Furthermore, the import process is managed through an online "e-portal" system introduced post-2020. Importers must submit documents like the Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, and Transport Documents; all information must be pre-uploaded for customs clearance approval.
Although Egypt imposes no anti-dumping duties, quotas, or licensing restrictions specifically on PVC raw materials, the government initiated an anti-dumping investigation on US suspension PVC resin in 2021, imposing a provisional 9% duty. Additionally, imported products must comply with Egyptian Standards (ES), bear Arabic labels with complete production information, or risk rejection at customs or fines.
